Of course these images wouldn't have been possible without all of my incredible clients. So thank you, sincerely, thank you. I know there are so many amazing local photographers and it truly means the world to me that you chose me to be your photographer.

The Best Year of My Life?? {Bainbridge Island, WA Children's Photographer}

Another year has flown by. I have to say I think this was one of the best years of my life. Which is really saying a lot as those closest to me know. It is incredible how a year can start and end so differently. I attribute a lot of it to luck, but then again, I believe we create our own luck. Here are just a few of the highlights.

*We moved to Bainbridge Island {A dream of Ben and I's since we moved to Seattle in 2004}*

*My sister was blessed with a healthy baby girl who is due to change our lives in February*

*My Dad retired and moved to Port Orchard {we never have to say Goodbye again}.*

*Both of my kids are thriving in their new schools*

*My children are healthy and happy*

*SMP had a great year celebrating milestones with my beautiful and incredible clients.*
*I reconnected with a dear old friend who I have missed dearly, A hole in my heart has been filled.*

*Ben and I celebrated 12 years of marriage bliss ;)*

*I attended 4 Keith Urban Concerts, 3 of which we were in the front row!*

*He held my hand in one of the above concerts*

*I met Keith Urban with my Best Friend*

Best Baby EVER! {Family Photographer on Bainbridge Island, Washington, 98110}

Picture it about 35 degrees with a pretty good breeze, and it just so happens to be family picture day! That is what this sweet family was faced with a few weekends ago. It was brrrrrr!

However, they just so happened to have the best baby ever! He didn't complain once and was oh so down to chilling on the forest floor. Of course he had to sample a few of the leaves and munch a bit of moss but hey, don't knock it til you try it, am I right? Can I get a fist pump? (winking to all the MWAC moms out there :)).

I worked as fast as I could so we could warm up this little guy. I think we got more than enough beautiful images that reflect this families love.

On a side note, I still have two more sessions this month, yeah so much for not shooting in December :). But I am determined to keep my January clear for my new blog and I am working on offering several new Collections for 2012, very exciting stuff!

Now lets focus our attention on this awesome little man.....

It's like I can hear what he is thinking....."Um you are super weird picture lady, as I am throwing leafs on my head to get his attentions :).

First of all be prepared for a HUGE, ginormous, and beyond adorable post!! I had so many favorites from this session it was hard to narrow it down.

I had never met this family before our shoot, and since their littlest one was still pretty small we decided to shoot part of the session in their home. Naomi and Kris, immediately made me feel right at home. As soon as I saw their two beautiful girls, I knew this was going to be an amazing session.

It immediately made my excitement for my sisters baby girl reach a whole new level. Can February just get here already?! As a mother of two boys anything that has to do with a little girl makes me giddy. Especially when it comes to styling for photo shoots.

Naomi is not only uber talented at making beautiful little girls, she also makes the most beautiful tutu's and head pieces. She is planning on opening an etsy store soon and as soon as she does you can bet I will be purchasing a few items for my Baby Reece. I will be sure to share her link when she does :).

Sweet Girls Sneak Peek {Bainbridge Island, WA Childrens Portrait Photographer}

Just a quick sneak peek post for Naomi before I head out for the weekend. Ben and I are going to San Fransisco to see my brother Josh and his adorable girlfriend Libby. We are taking a party bus with 50 of our/their closest friends to Napa Valley. Looking forward to a few days alone with Ben, and well 50 other people :)!!

About a year in the making in fact. Between bad weather and crazy busy schedules it took a to make this session happen. It was so worth the wait.

Meet, Megan, Darren, Jack and Dylan. Ben just so happens to work with Darren and over the years we have fallen in love with there family. Megan is the sweetest woman/mother/wife I have ever met! I can't say enough good things about this beautiful family! So I leave you with a monster blog post as I have way too many favorites. Actually is it possible to have too many favorites? Nay...

I will be MIA this week, as tomorrow begins the best week of my life!! My favorite girls, a road trip and two Keith Urban concerts!! Oh, and did I mention I get to MEET KEITH! Yup, its so happening Monday night. I havn't slept or ate since I found out. Ok that isn't true I have been nervous eating like a pig since I found out. I hoping he will love me regardless :)! Sweet Home Alabama! {Bainbridge Island WA Family Photographer 98110}

{I never thought I would use that title on my blog :).}

But that is exatly where this family calls home.

I was lucky enough to meet them during their vacation on the Island.

I just fell in love with these two little girls. The best feeling in the world is to have a child you have only known for an hour come up to you and give you the sweetest huge.

I believe that what I do isn't just about taking pictures, far from it. It is about making a connection with you. I want to get to know you during our short time together, and along the way capture who you are and not just what you look like.

I wish the H family lived closer, as I truly enjoyed my time with them.

Who knows maybe someday I will make it down to Sweet Alabama :)!

I have been so busy that I haven't had a chance to enter a photo in a while. I was curious what the photo challenge was this week at I Heart Faces, and it just so happened to be white! And I sure have been looking at a lot of white lately :).

I love the contrast between Mother and Daughters red hair against their white dresses.

I love the white light spilling over them.

But mostly I love this tender moment as they both embark on a new journey....together.

I love everything about shooting children. Can I tell you a secret? I think they are my favorite people in the whole wide world to shoot. I love how every expression is genuine. I never know what the next click is going to capture. I enjoy the challenge of capturing their emotion in that moment, happy or sad, I think it is beautiful.

All children are unique and some children are more challenging than others, but Mr. Malcolm here makes my job so easy. He was the same at 11 days old, and proved to be just as easy one year later.

I often think about what it is going to be like when our boys are grown and have children of their own. I envision vacations, Christmas's, and Birthday parties. And then there is this tiny voice in the back of my mind that asks, what if they don't want to be around us? But then I remind myself of how cool I think I am :)! Just kidding, but really I hope when they are grown they look forward to getting together with their Mom and Dad as much as we will..

Seeing this family together makes me look forward to those days even more. Just watching them interact with their Grandchildren and seeing the joy that it brings makes me all the more excited for the future.

Hey Y'all!

I am finally done editing my weddings and I am so excited to start editing the several sessions that I have done this past month.

This beautiful family found me on the Internet all the way from Alabama! They won a four day vacation to none other than Bainbridge Island of all places :)! They stayed in the most darling cottage, and wanted to do a family session while they were here. I jumped at the chance to be their "vacation photographer" :)!

A Wedding, Ten Years In The Making {Poulsbo WA, Wedding Photographer}

I have never thought about renewing my vows. Ben and I are going on 12 years of marriage this September, and I can honestly say it has never crossed my mind. That is until last weekend.

I had the incredible pleasure of shooting Ricky & Crystal's renewal of their vows, in honor of their 10th wedding anniversary. When they were married ten years ago it was a small affair, and Crystal and Ricky wanted to experience something a bit BIGGER this go round. Surrounded by their friends and family they did just that.

I should tell you Crystal is also a photographer who specializes in weddings, so this girl knows a wedding when she see's one ;), and she planned one of the funnest weddings I have ever attended, right down to the wedding party dancing up the aisle. It was awesome!! Watch out utube ;)!

So hear is to another ten years Crystal and Ricky!!

This was a Georgia wedding, right down to the lemonade and sweet tea. Cedar Cove was the perfect location for this beautiful southern themed wedding.

Please meet Gabrielle and Allen. So in love, with the most romantic love story. It all began with their first date on Valentines day. Gabrielle planned every last detail in only a few short months, and she didn't miss a thing. They say love is in the details, and there were so many beautiful details.

I am going to have to break up their wedding into three posts, this being the first! So please come back as I share the story of their day with you.

I have so many favorites already, but I think these next two are my MOST favorite. It brings tears to my eyes to watch the Father of the Brides reaction to seeing his daughter in her wedding gown for the first time.

Hey! What's up!!

I know I have been a bit blog MIA lately. And I am not gonna lie, my June break was much needed. I had a whole list of things I was going to get done, none of which I did. Instead I focused on my little family, and spent a month just being a Mom and wife. Well, not JUST a Mom and wife. I did make a point to spend one weekend acting like a love crazed 14 year old in Boston with my favorite girls at two Keith Urban concerts :)! Sigh....

Anyways, I am so excited to be back behind the camera. This past weekend I shot a BEAUTIFUL wedding that I am dying to show you. I just have one for now, but I promise you will want to stop back by this week. Just wait til this bride turns around :)!

I don't know about you, but I had high hopes for a sunny June. So seeing how it has come and gone with only a handful of sunny days, leaves me feeling a bit gloomy.

Thankfully I have had the following image to gaze at from time to time to get me through it :)! I even ordered it in a 40x60 canvas for my home :).

I am gearing up for a busy next two months. I have TWO weddings in July and I only have one spot open the last week of August for a portrait session. Otherwise I am booked for the next two months. I could probably squeeze in one session in July, but that is about it.

This month I have been working on getting myself a big girl blog. It is no where near done, but I look forward to sharing it all with you hopefully soon....Mean while I hope this image brightens your day just a little bit, at least until the sun decides to join us permanently this summer!

Isn't it crazy how much we forget? Well at least I do. It is hard for me to remember when I was pregnant, and even harder yet to remember what my boys looked and felt like when they were less than a week old.

Do you remember this Mom to be's Maternity Session? I sure do. She reminded me how beautiful and magical pregnancy can be, and how I wish I had had a professional capture me seven months pregnant. I regret even more not getting Newborn pictures done of my boys. If only I had picked up my first SLR a few years earlier :(. My point and shoot pictures are all I have, and thank goodness for those, because it is so hard for me to remember them this little.

This amazing couple welcomed Thatcher into this world a few weeks ago. They weren't going to make the same mistake I did, and were thoughtful enough to capture all his perfection so they will NEVER forget this magical time.

The Wedding....{Bainbridge Island WA, Wedding Photographer}

Phew, they are finally done, well at least edited. I still have to make their beautiful album (I secretly love making albums....shhhh, don't tell my sister).

Mindy Capps was their photographer and she did such a fabulous job. and beautifully told the story of their day. After the wedding she handed over her CF cards and the rest was up to me. There is something so fun and freeing about editing other peoples images.

Help! Not another FACE!! {Bainbridge Island Washington, Photographer}

So I need your opinion. I am in the process of making our new house a home, which translates to painting, moving furniture, and last but not least hanging pictures. We all know that I am a portrait photographer, and I struggle with still life's, but if I hang another picture with a face I think I will make myself nauseous. "OK we get it, you take pictures of people!" :).

So I came up with these last night. I want to hang three large canvases in my TV room above my couch. I want it to be subtle, sophisticated, and serene.

Do you think this works, be honest. And which composition do you like better?

Happy Mothers DAY!! {Bainbridge Island, Children's Portrait Photographer}

I hope you all had a GREAT mothers day, filled with breakfast in bed, a homemade card, and lots of hugs and kisses. I know that I certainly did. Well, minus the breakfast in bed :)!

I did however receive the most amazing card from my Braydon that I must share.

His teacher had all of the kids draw a picture of their mothers and write a fill in the blank sentence saying, Mom you are like a.....

Braydon did two of them.

"Mom you are like a Blue flower blueming happyness."

I have to tell you this made me feel SO good. Simply because more often than not by the end of the day all I feel like I have done is break up fights by raising my voice or repeating myself a million times to get them to complete one simple task. Which as you can imagine hardly looks like a blue flower blueming anything but frustration.

So, to know that my seven year old son views me as a happy person makes me feel incredible. Because let me tell you, I am so incredibly happy to be their mother. In fact nothing makes me happier.

The second:

"Mom you are like a Brown cake, giving me joy."

This one just makes me laugh. Not a chocolate cake, or a vanilla cake, but a brown one :)! I just love it! I don't care what color you chose Braydon as long as at the end of the day you are feeling joy, and maybe I had a little something to do with it, makes me one happy blue blueming flower. (k, that will never get old).

And then my Brooksy Bear decided to show Braydon up by pooping in the potty for the first time today. Is there a greater gift ladies? I think not :)!

To all the Brown cake Mom's out there giving joy to your little miracles, I hope you ALL had a wonderful day. And just for the record, my mom is the Brownest cake around :)! I love you Mom!!

With that said, I had a big week. I finally broke down and got my dream camera, the 5D Mark II. I have waited a LONG time to make this purchase, and let me tell you it was worth the wait!

Lucky.....{Bainbridge Island Portrait Photographer, Washington}

I feel lucky in so many area's of my life. Today I wanted to focus on how lucky I have been in the friendship department. Throughout my life it seems as though friends have been placed in my path exactly when I have needed them. Whether it be to teach me a life lession, a friend to laugh with, or a friend to help me get through whatever life has to throw at me. I cherish each one of my friendships, and feel so blessed to know such incredible women.

This hot mama is NO exception. In fact she has changed my life. I have never met someone so incredibly positive. I don't care what the situation (and we have been in some uncomfortable, and just down right weird situation's, these past five years :)). Somehow we always end up with a great story that only brings us closer. Jamie is really my very best friend. I love her more than I can say. I think the number one thing Jamie has taught me is to love yourself, and don't ever let anyone forget how great you truly are. As woman I think we down play how incredible we are and how much we do for others. Jamie doesn't have this problem :)! And I don't mean it in a conceded, or unhumble way. It is a confidence that shines through her that is contagious. I know I feel more confident, self assured, and proud of myself, just for being me, and Jamie has given me this gift. Everyone should have a friend like Jamie. But you can't steal her from me, because she is my bff :)!

Growing up in Alaska had its advantages and it's disadvantage. One of disadvantages was that I didn't grow up living close to my extended family. I have always been a bit envious of families that have had the opportunity to grow up with their cousins. There is such a special bond that cousins share, and I have never experienced that.

It was such a pleasure and a priviledge to witness this sweet bond during our session last weekend. You can just feel how much they love each other, and to think they have their whole childhood to share with one another is so incredible to me :)!

Andrea, has been a dear friend of mine for several years now, and I have been eyeing her children from day one, so it was a real treat for me to finally get to shoot them :)! So thank you Andrea :)!

My husband and I have decided we are about 99% sure we are happy with having just two boys. Well I should say he is 100% sure and I am about 95% sure. At least I was up until last weekend.

You see my sister in law came to visit with her beautiful, perfect little angel baby. You know those baby books that describe the different types of baby temperaments? Well, miss Sydney June falls into the "Angel Baby" category to the T. If I knew for sure I would have a girl that was as sweet and easy going as Sydney, I would do it in a heart beat :)! Oh well, meanwhile I will just have to snuggle, and smother her with all my love :)!

Can you see why I am so in love......? Which is why I couldn't help but post almost her entire session :)!

I have had taking Brooks's 3 year old pictures on my to do list for months! I wasn't planning on doing a session with him till next weekend, but I wanted him to try on his new clothes to make sure they fit. Well they fit, so I thought I should try out the beautiful pockets of light in my new house. Well, a few shots turned into a few more, and after ten minutes I had so many that I loved I think I will count this as his session :)!

Brooks, my love, you are such a ray of sunshine in our home. You keep us on our toes every minute, and you are sooo much like me that it is scary. We can't imagine our world without you in it. We love you little monkey!

Nothing says 'Spring' to me more than a little bit of sunshine, cherry blossoms, and a beautiful mama to be.

I actually caught a glimpse all of those things in a single afternoon this past week.

This sweet couple was just a breath of fresh air. To say they are excited for their new little man to arrive is an understatement, and I for one can't wait to meet him! He is one lucky baby to have such incredible parents, and I was thrilled to capture their love and anticipation for his arrival.

I needed a fun couple like this after a full week of painting, cleaning, moving out, and moving into our new home. We are settling in nicely and hoping to find our new "normal" very soon. But that will have to wait as this week we are looking forward to visiting with friends and family that are coming to visit :)!

Fresh {Washington State Newborn Photographer}

Every time I look a new little person that is just days old the first thing that comes to my mind is how innocent, pure, and fresh they are. They have a whole life before them yet to discover, to make mistakes, and find true happiness.

As a parent it also a time for us to start fresh. Whether we are first time parents or this is our fifth go round we have a fresh start with our new addition, and that is an incredible feeling.

There are so many things that I would gladly do over given a fresh start with my two angels. Things that I would do exactly the same and things I would do dramatically differently. I guess in away we get to start over fresh each morning, and I for one embrrass that chance to improve my children's lives in everyway that I can. Some days are easier than others, yet I am just grateful for the opportunity for everyday that I have with them.

Who knows, maybe someday I will have the courage to start fresh with a new little one of my own, or maybe not, meanwhile I will be grateful for the beautiful boys that I have.

You all should be very familiar with this family by now. This is their third session in less than three months, and here are the fruits of their labor (Ha, 'labor' do you see how I did that little play on words :), if you didn't get it call me and I will explain it in more detail :).

Where do I even begin. Lots has changed for me in the past few weeks. The biggest change has been our families decision to move to Bainbridge Island, WA. It has always been a dream of ours to move there someday, and that someday is March 18th! If you aren't from the Seattle area Bainbridge is a small community of about 22,000 people, and is located directly across the sound from down town Seattle. The significance of this being that my husbands commute will be more than cut in half. Our boys will have the opportunity of attending one of the best schools that our state has to offer, and I will only be 35 minutes from my family, friends and clients.

I plan on traveling back to Port Orchard for visits and photo sessions often. So I hope none of you will start searching for a new photographer anytime soon! Seriously though, I will come back for you :)!

Now, for the reason you all come here. And by the way I checked my blog stats and I get on average 40 visitors per day, and I am so curious as to who you all are. Its quite possible that it is just my Mom checking me out, but if you are a follower of my blog and we have never met I would love for you to introduce yourself! Please, it would be really fun to get to know all of you.

Ok, so I have to tell you a little back story about this family. Back in November I was contacted through my website, by a couple that wanted to purchase a session for a very special family who had helped them out in a time of need. They wanted to do something special for them to show them how much they appreciated their kindness. They decided on getting them a photography session. So right away I knew these were very special people!

I will admit I was a bit nervous about photographing a family of seven and their dog Chloe. Especially because it was quite cold and windy, but I couldn't have asked for better models. They all did a fabulous job, and we caught some of my personal favorites to date. And this session only took about 45 minutes by the time it was all said and done. We work quick when it is cold :)! So I hope you all enjoy these as much as I do.

I also have never done this before, but I thought it would be fun to post a SOOC shot (straight out of camera) next to a final edit, so you could see the difference.

Precious {Maternity Photographer, Washington State}

I think we all have a moment in our life when everything that is important comes screaming into perspective.

This past week has been one of those times for me. I have always known what was truly important, but right now I feel it on a much deeper level. I don't need to tell all of you how precious your children are, to hold on to them tight, or to tell them a 100 times a day that you love them. But I will say it anyways, there is nothing more precious than our little miracles.

And this little miracle is no exception. You can feel how excited and over joyed they are to welcome their second child into this world in just a few short weeks. Meet one lucky baby still safe and warm in his Mama's tummy.

Hi!!! Did anyone miss me :)? I sure missed you! I have missed my camera too, but things are going to start picking up here soon, as we enter into what seems to be maternity and newborn season. Which is always so much fun!

First though I must share with you this little man. He is super FAST and I thought, uh oh Shannon's gonna have to run, but he was AMAZING, I couldn't have dreamt of it going better.

I hope you all have recovered from the Holiday's and are killing those 2011 new years resolutions. I have to say, I am actually doing mine, which is probably the first time in years I have stuck to my resolutions :)! It feels great.

I have been going back through all of my session's from 2010, and I can not express the gratitude that I feel at this very moment. I really do have one of the most incredible jobs in this world. For me it is a dream come true to do what I am passionate about and share these incredible moments with each of you. It is such an honor to be invited to capture your precious newborn babies, as well as watching your children grow and change through the years. Since becoming a photographer, I am on the constant look out for beautiful light, interesting locations, and adorable faces that I am dying to shoot.

I have had my eye on this little guy for a year now! You will probably think I am crazy but I have been stalking him on facebook ever since I shot his cousins last winter.

He was everything I had hoped for and more :)! I don't think we caught one expression that was the same, and there were a lot of sweet expressions. Thank you M family for letting me shoot your incredibly photogenic little man :)!

This is a BIG post as this was my last session of 2010. It has been such a wonderful year, thanks to ALL of my amazing clients. I hope each of you know how very special you all are to me. When I saw that this weeks challenge over at I Heart Faces, was pet faces I couldn't resist sharing our dearest and ONLY pet with you all.....Ooch :)!

My Mom and Dad bought me Ooch when I was 12 years old. My little family inherited him two years ago. So I guess that makes him atleast 20. We have no idea how old he was when we bought him because this little guy hasn't grown at ALL since we got hiim. He could be 100 I suppose :)! I hope one day to pass him onto my children.

As a photographer there is nothing better than shooting a family multiple times. Watching your children grow and change, and having the privilege of documenting these changes, is a true honor that I don't take lightly.

This beautiful family is very special to me. They were my very first official clients when I went into business two years ago. I think it is safe to say they took a chance on me, and I am so thankful that they did. Their first session is still one of my all time favorites.

The Sacrifices We Make For LOVE..... {Washington Photographer}

We all make sacrifices when we truly love someone. This sweet couple has been married just under a year and have had to make more sacrifices for one another than I can count.

They both serve our country, and are currently living thousands of miles apart, and will continue to do so for several months to come. I am humbled each time I am around them. They have such a great attitude and perspective about their situation, and it makes me so appreciative of all of the men and woman that serve our country. The sacrifices that they make both personally and professionally are nothing short of heroic.

Andrew and Brandi, are so stinkin in love :). I want you both to know I appreciate all that you do to keep my little family safe and free! I am so proud of you both. Oh and did I mention they are my cousins :)!

I hope these photographs help ease the seperation just a little bit, or at the very least help remind you of how great you look together :)!

I finally was able to sit down and go through all of the pictures that I took at my sisters wedding. I only had time to shoot her for about 20 min. after which the fabulous Mindy took over. Soon I will get the rest of the photos from her and edit more of the ceremony and reception, but I will probably not be able to get to those for a while, as this is my crazy insano busy time of year :)!

I have to tell you that this is my favorite photograph of the day. We were having a beautiful sister moment which ended in tears. Words can not express how much I love this girl. And she is even more beautiful when she cries :)!

My friends make fun of me for saying "really" and "seriously" a lot. But really seriously, how is it possible that one person can be so incredibly beautiful AND so incredibly talented. I mean seriously how fair is that? :)!!

Friends, meet my amazing friend, fellow photographer, creator and owner of the Newborn Nest (if you shoot newborns this is a MUST have!). Well, that is how I feel about this family, just so thankful to have met them :). I have spoken with Karen on the phone here and there over this past year, and instantly knew that she was a very special person, as are her kids. I love my job :)!

Sweet 11 day old Malcolm came over to play with me last week. He was a dream baby to shoot.

I have been dying to use this little bicycle prop for months now, and the last few babies I have shot have been too big, and I thought for sure Malcolm was too big as well, but with the encouragement of his parents, we got him in there :)! And I am so glad that we did :)! It was worth the sweat, and I mean literally, I was sweating! It may have had something to do with the fact it was 80 degrees in my house, but like I said totally worth it :)!

Thank you so much Y family, you have an angel in your hands, and I am so thankful I had the pleasure of meeting him.

No, He didn't book a session with me.....but one can dream :)!

A few weeks ago, my sister and my bff snuck away for a weekend in the Gorge for a little Keith Urban lovin. It was so much fun. I can't tell you the anticipation I feel before his concerts, we are talking weeks before the concert, I get all nervous and excited. It is ridiculous and a bit embarrassing. Why I just shared that with all of your is beyond me :)!

Then last weekend, my real life Keith Urban (AKA Ben), planned a whole surprise weekend for just the two of us to a beautiful resort and spa in British Columbia. It was so relaxing, and so out of left field for my non-romantic husband that I am still processing the fact that it actually happened. I guess making him watch the bachelor the past 10 years has finally paid off :)!

I LOVE Weddings!!!!! {Kitsap County Wedding Photographer}

I know I keep saying this, but I REALLY REALLY love shooting weddings :)! There is just something just so indescribable about watching a couple go through all of the emotions of the day. It is such a personal experience and I always feel so humbled and honored to be a part of one of the most important moments of their life.

Not to mention everyone looks incredible :)!

I was asked by a good friend to second shoot this wedding a few weeks ago. We have so much fun together, and I look forward to working more with her in the future :)!

Kay, so it was POURING! I don't mean it was raining, I mean it was POURING!! We had to use one hand to hold an umbrella over our heads, and the other hand to hold our camera's and shoot. The bride and groom were so amazing, and were such good sports about it! The wedding was supposed to be outside, but last minute they had to chang the ceremony to the reception site. I have to tell you how amazing this bride was, she was so laid back, and just went with the flow the entire day. It was so much fun working with this incredible couple :)!

So I have been thinking about this for a while now, and wanted to share my thoughts on something. I know at first you will think I am biased by saying this but hear me out. I truly with all of my heart think that when couples are planning their wedding the most important vendor that they hire is the photographer bar none!

Now let me explain. Yes the location is important, yes the food and cake is important, and yes the flowers, DJ, dress, and details are ALL important, but all of those things will fade into a distant memory after the big day is done. Five years, heck five minutes after your wedding day is over all you are left with is well, your husband of course :), but your photographs and wedding album that lasts for generations to come. It documents all the beautiful details, and moments of the entire day. Everything else gets eaten, thrown away, or boxed up for storage (in hopes that your daughter will someday wear your wedding gown :)).

So, yes it is so important to choose a photographer whose style you love so that in turn you love your wedding album, BUT, and this is the main reason I believe that choosing the right wedding photographer is the most important vendor decision that you make....

It is SOOO incredibly important that you LIKE your wedding photographer! I am not just talking about their work, but someone that you actually get a long with and enjoy being around. As the bride, throughout the day you will spend more time with your photographer than you will with ANYONE else the entire day! Your wedding day is a roller coaster of emotions, and the one person hired to be there through it all is your photographer. That is why I think that it is soo important that you choose someone you feel comfortable with both professionally and personally.

So meet photographers before you choose, and if you don't click with someone move on until you find someone that you do, I promise it will be one of the most important decisions that you make as you plan your wedding :)!

The BUS!! {Washington Photographer}

So for years I have been telling people the story of how my parents ended up in Alaska. So during this trip I took a few pictures to prove it :)!!

It was the early eighties, and my parents two years prior had had the most beautiful darling little girl ever to be born.....(ok I made up that part up :)), I was two years old. Anyways, my Dad had read in a magazine about an open pit coal mine that was located in the interior of Alaska. My mother had back packed with a girlfriend through Alaska a few years before and fell in love with the state. So, they decided to take a chance.

They bought an old school bus, gutted it out, put in a small stove and a mini kitchen, with a couple places to sleep, for my Dad, Mom, my Mom's best friend, and me :)! They drove all the way from Minnesota to a small town called Healy, which is located in the middle of NO WHERE!

Once they arrived, my Dad did odd jobs until he was finally hired on to the mine where he has been working for almost thirty years.

It is always so amazing for me to think about this story and believe that my overly worried, OCD planner parents, were actually the same people that jumped in a bus, took a major chance, and went for their dream. So I guess what I am saying is I am proud to have once lived in a bus :)!

Eventually we moved out of the bus :), and into my parents dream log home. They built the entire thing themselves. I remember them having log shaving parties. Like, literally their friends would come over and would help shave the bark off of all of those logs. So here is a little piece of where I came from :)!

My SISTER's Getting Married!!! {Port Orchard, Washington, Wedding, Engagement Photographer}

You heard me!! My little sister is getting married!!! I couldn't be more excited for her and Rick (or Richard, which is what I like to call him :)). He is a wonderful man, and you might even recognize him. I did a session with him and his two little boys a few years ago.

Lyndsay came to live with me and my family about a year and a half ago, and met Richard, who has been my neighbor and friend ever since we moved to Port Orchard. These two caught each others eye I think day two of her being here :), and have been pretty much inseparable ever since. Which means, my sister only lives three houses away!! How perfect is that? I love it, it is beyond fun, and I probably walk up to their house at least twice a day :)!

I am so incredibly happy for the two them, they deserve all the happiness in the world, and I am so thankful to have both of them in my life.

I love you guys, (yes, I said it, I love you Richard) :)!

I have never had the pleasure of shooting any pets up until my trip to Alaska, and not only did I get to do one but TWO :)! I have to say dogs are easier than shooting some kids, mine included!!

This session was so special. It was their first offical profession photoshoot ever, and I was honored that they asked me to do it. I can not tell you what an amazing relationships these two have with one another. I hope my relationship with my two boys is just as close as they grow older :)!

I am still here!! I hope you all haven't forgotten about me completely. We are back from Alaska, and had a great time catching up with old friends and family. It was very relaxing, and I am still adjusting back to life in the real world :)!

I had two great sessions while I was up there. The family that I am featuring today are childhood friends, and are high school sweethearts :)! It was so great to see their beautiful family. Being with them brought back a lot of memories growing up in our tiny town.

It is that time again. Time to head home for two weeks of family, friends, fotoshoots, and fishing :)!

I will be back July 17th. I will try and answer emails while I am away, but I can't promise anything, as my Daddio has dial up :)!

I found the most amazing field of Daisy's last weekend, and just couldn't wait to shoot it, so me and my dearest friend packed up our boys and went for it. It is truly the perfect location! All that we were missing was some backlight sun (don't even get me started on that), and well, a little girl in a flowy dress would have been nice :)! But just like my youngest in the tutu you work with what you got.....:)! And I have to admit it doesn't get much cutter than this :)!

And of course I have to mention that evening ended with a trip to the ER. Apparently my oldest is allergic to something fierce. By the time we were packing up everything in the car the whites of his eyes were literally swelling out of his head. It wasn't so pretty. Maybe the flowers in his hair wasn't such a great idea :)!
